Conrad Energy Gas Generation Plant – Billericay

 

With an ever greater demand on the UK’s power network, Conrad Energy are working to provide flexible generation assets in order to support the complex demand on the UK national grid.

Sites such as the Billericay Generation Plant supports the electricity network at points of high demand, when variable wind and solar assets are not able to fulfil the needs.

Overview of Works

  • Turnkey Electrical and Civil Design for the contestable works

  • 1.6km of excavation, reinstatement and cable installation through arable land and public highways directly fed into the UKPN primary substation.

  • Substation foundations installation

  • Supply, installation, and commissioning of 2 panel Genie switchgear

  • Full substation fitout, including traywork, multicore, auxiliary supplies and substation power and lighting.

  • Battery trip unit installation

  • RTU and SCADA works

  • Adapter box installation

  • LVAC and Generator change over panel

  • Customer interface panel for protection inter-tripping scheme

  • Full project management and procurement for scheme

Key Challenges

  • Highly sensitive route with multiple section 50 permit applications for highways excavations ensuring minimal disruption to the local community and surrounding stakeholders.

  • Complex traffic management scheme for public roads
