Samuel Ryder Academy

Samuel Ryder Academy

Background

The Samuel Ryder Academy added a sports complex and additional teaching facilities to its campus in St Albans. Sinewave supported the principal contractor by completing all on-site electrical works. Tight deadlines and COVID-19 restrictions made the project more challenging.

The Technicals

  • One 11kV HV substation with LV bulk supply

  • Two LV disconnections from UKPN network

  • 50 meters of off-site civils works to HV POC

  • On-site works, including substation earthing, commissioning of substation, SPL works

How we approached it

As the dedicated Independent Connection Provider, Sinewave supported Cadman Construction by installing an 11kV substation and bulk LV supply to increase the academy’s electric supply needs. Sinewave completed all on-site infrastructure, off-site contestable connection works and two LV disconnections before completing the project for the client and adopting partners LEEP and UKPN in January 2021.

The end result

As a leading academic institution, located in South Hertfordshire, Samuel Ryder Academy continues to expand in size. Adding greater electrical capacity to the school allowed it to replace low-voltage connections with a larger capacity HV substation to facilitate additional growth.

Sinewave formed a strong relationship with Cadman Construction during this project. Tight deadlines and working through the COVID-19 pandemic at the school added many challenges, but all were overcome.
